IDPs in Odesa

It all started so suddenly..24th of February 2022. It seemed as if the whole country was on the move.  Odesa opened its doors to over 150.000 Internally Displaced People (IDPs), who fled from occupation or front line villages and towns.

Our “Hub” was quickly and spontaneously put together and the people started coming..first from Mykolayiv, Kharkiv. Then in April – Mariupol, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson.. dozens, hundreds.. then thousands of people.

Humanitarian aid packs were provided then and still are to this day. Packs with humanitarian aid in form of food and WASH items as well as household kits, baby products and clothes are prepared each day in the Hub. Each pack includes a standard food set or hygiene kits. Baby food and diapers are issued separately according to the required age and size.

Over 80 volunteers for the last 18 months selflessly offloaded, sorted and packed aid.
The IDPs can also obtain clothes, shoes, duvets and household items, since most of the times people fled without anything other than the clothes they were wearing. Today this direct need is less but still present.

In the Hub people can also receive psychological and legal support, as well as assistance in getting temporary accommodation or transportation to Europe.

The Team of volunteers seeks to ensure each person feels welcomed and supported after the hardships of experience. Indeed, many of the volunteers are themselves IDPs.

How to support us

Second year of war in Ukraine: Thousands of people are counting on your support.

The days and months of violence, trauma, loss, destruction, and displacement for the people of Ukraine are ongoing. Millions of people have fled, but many are displaced and are uprooted from their homes, separated from their families. Many have stayed in their destroyed villages and are put at risk of attacks. Help us reach more people in need.
