Our NGO has a specialised team which organises and runs a series of kids events. These mostly occur in the liberated territories, where safety protocols allow a large number of children to gather. The programmes include a magician, clown, dancing, juggling and entertainment/music.
These children have witnessed and experienced horrors no child should deal with. Our kids fairs are an opportunity for them to experience laughter, fun and the chance to forget the ordeals they have suffered; at least for a while. It is an opportunity for them to be normal kids.
It is rewarding to see an almost immediate change in their behaviour as they transform from withdrawn detachment to kids rapt with spontaneous laughter and a sparkle back in their eyes.
This project is very dear to every volunteer for it reminds us that after the darkest night there is a new dawn and the sun will shine again, and children will sing and smile, and the future will once more be bright!
